Curious about Calgary rail history? I've compiled a list of resources that you might find handy in that endeavor. Please send me an e-mail if you have any questions about Calgary rail at all, I'd be happy to help you answer your question!
If you're interested in industrial spurs and leads in particular, this website might help you out! I've individually profiled each and every industrial spur to ever exist in Calgary. You should start there for the basic information, customers, and routing of that particular line. Find those pages HERE.
If you want a map of EVERY SINGLE RAIL LINE TO EVER EXIST IN THE CITY OF CALGARY... well... I've also got you covered there. Click HERE to find that map.
Historical documents and timetables are also a great resource. These can be found online at the Canadian Pacific Historical Association has an extensive collection of digital files regarding (mostly) Canadian Pacific history such as maps, timetables, blueprints, you name it. Their library is the reason why I could list all the customers on all the CP and CN industrial leads in Calgary. Other historical documents and especially timetables can be found at the Canadian National Railways Historical Association.
And, one more thing: if you can get your hands on the highly coveted series of books: The Railways Of Calgary, Volumes 1, 2, and 3, by Ray Mathews, Donald Bain, and Kevin Franchuk, published by the BMRNA,then you will unlock a lot more Calgary railway knowledge. I've read volumes 2 & 3 and they are chock-full of neat information!
