The Calgary Industrial Line used to go all the way to Calgary's Beltline as it was originally built by the Canadian Northern as their main line into the city.
It may have less grandiose now, but hey, it's still in use. |
The G.T.P. Industrial Branch, similar to the Calgary Industrial Line's story, used to go to where Fort Calgary is today, built as the Grand Trunk Pacific's main line.
It's steeped in history and is home to two amazing bridges. |
The East Industrial Branch branches off the historic
Calgary Industrial Line and once sported not one, not two, but three connection points to the Canadian Pacific Railway. It has been split in half but it still serves a few industries. |
The McLeod Industrial Branch was actually built in 1911 by the Canadian Northern with a plan to take it all the way to Fort Macleod. They didn't end up getting far, though.
It was used until 2017, and has since been removed. |
The Highfield Industrial Branch goes up a steep hill from the Calgary Industrial Line into the... Highfield Industrial area. And it has three customers which keep it alive.
Two spurs have been removed, but most of it still remains. |
The Foothills Industrial Branch is an extremely weird spur in the sense that it's shared by CPKC and CN (as a matter of fact, I don't know which railway even built it), and it's not dying. It's used often and has many customers.
