There's even more J Lead? In the 1950s, Calgary's historic J Lead was extended northbound from Mile 117.1 of the Macleod Subdivision (today known as the Aldersyde Subdivsion), all the way to the 12th St. East Wye at the Alyth Yards, making the Macleod Subdivision double-tracked. This was used to serve industries southeast of the main track and allowed local switching jobs to switch the industries without fouling the main line. This was never done in the case of the H Lead, which would have been too far to implement, so customers were accessed directly from the main line. Today this trackage still remains for the use of accessing the JA Lead, as well as a passing siding, although there are no customers along this length of the track anymore. I am not currently aware if CPKC officially refers to this track as the J Lead anymore, as they may very well just call it a siding on the Aldersyde Subdivision (the Rail Atlas of Canada appears to agree with this claim) from which the JA Lead extends from.
General Information: Built: ~1955 Partially Removed: ~1990 (the track is still used as a siding, but the last spur to a customer was removed around 1990) Beginning Point: Mileage 118.5, Aldersyde (formerly Mile 0, Macleod) Subdivision End Point: Mileage 0.0, JA Lead/Mileage 117.1, Aldersyde Subdvision General Direction: Southwest
