Contribution Guidelines
You can contribute to the map in lots of ways and it's easy to do! The various different ways you can contribute are highlighted below. If anything doesn't make sense, visit the FAQ section.
Adding a new light to the map
- Have you noticed a streetlight in Calgary that looks unique/rare/historic? - You can edit the map and add it if it's not been added already. - When adding a new light to the map, make sure to familiarize yourself with the map legend. - NOTE: It's totally OK if you don't know the model, bulb type, or operational state of the light. What's important is that the light itself is added to the map. Other people who are more familiar with that particular light can help add details. - Don't know how to add a light to the map? adding details to existing markers
Is there a streetlight on the map that is marked yellow? This is a streetlight that not much is known about, so these markers need more information.
What can you do to get more information on the lights? There are two things that may be needed to be added. - If the marker on the map is missing its Bulb Prefix, the bulb type of the streetlight is unknown. - If the marker on the map is coloured yellow, it is unknown if the light is working or not. - In both cases, the easiest thing to do is to visit the streetlight after dark. This way, you can find out both categories at once. Once you know, you can update the map accordingly using the legend. - Don't know much about streetlights and bulb types? Due to the limitations of the mapping software, unfortunately you need a Google Account to edit the map. If you have a Google Account, make sure you are logged in. If you don't have a Google Account and don't wish to make one, please e-mail me with the location and specifications of the streetlight in which you know of and I will add it for you.
Another issue is that you may be viewing the wrong page. To access the editor page from the viewer page, just click "Edit" in the top-left corner.
